Deputy Secretary Burns called UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash on July 18, 2012 to discuss the incident involving the USNS Rappahannock and to express regret for the loss of life. The two officials discussed U.S.-UAE coordination on the ongoing investigation and reaffirmed the strong U.S.-UAE partnership.
