Abu Dhabi,  – The U.S. Embassy Abu Dhabi’s Education Advisor Rasha Ghannoum participated in the Annual International Student Network (ISN) Fall Gulf Expo 2010 on the evening of Monday, October 4 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC).

The ISN Expo, organized by Mr. Babish Soni, brought representatives from 15 colleges and universities in the United States to the UAE as part of an educational tour to Middle Eastern and Gulf countries.

EducationUSA kicked off the Abu Dhabi event by organizing a luncheon for representatives of local scholarship offices and U.S. Embassy officials.  In attendance were Public Affairs Officer Robert Arbuckle, Cultural Affairs Officer Stephanie Sandoval, Senior Cultural Specialist Nadia Ibrahim, Senior Information Specialist Atallah Hoshan, and Education Advisor Rasha Ghannoum, in addition to officials from the Abu Dhabi Educational Council (ADEC) and the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC).

Following lunch, the group met with the 15 U.S. university representatives for a networking and information exchange event.  The event allowed local scholarship office representatives to answer a variety of questions from the U.S. universities and discuss issues of concern such as late admissions, testing requirements, conditional acceptances, and Intensive English Language programs.

Following the networking event, EA Rasha Ghannoum briefed the U.S. university admissions representatives on the culture and educational system in the UAE, to give them a better understanding of the local environment.

PAO Robert Arbuckle officially opened the ISN Gulf Expo university fair at ADNEC.  The fair was open to the public and around 300 students and their parents attended.  The event provided students interested in studying in the U.S. with an opportunity to meet with admissions representatives from American colleges, universities, and English language programs.  Many of student inquiries were related to graduate degrees, specifically MBA degrees, in the U.S.
