Immigrant Visas
Most frequently asked Questions
Q: What should I do after I have seen my case number on the web site?
A: You have 60 days from the day your number appears on the web site to stamp your visa in your passport. You do not need an appointment; just bring the blue sheet that was given to you at the time of the interview.
Q: When I was at the Embassy they told me it would take about 4 to 6 weeks for the administrative process. It has been more than 60 days and my number has not shown on the web site.
A: We cannot predict the time frame that each case might take. Some can be ready in one week, and some take more than 6 weeks. We can only send a reminder every 60 days to expedite the process.
Q: My appointment is this month but I cannot make it. Can I reschedule my appointment?
A: Due to our workload we can only reschedule emergency cases, and the new
Appointment could be up to 3 or 4 months later.
Q: When should I drop off my passport to stamp the visa?
A: Before 10:00am on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and the visa should be ready by the next day at 2:00 pm. Some cases might take more than one day and we are unable to know how long it will take until we start the process of printing the visa.
Q: I have prepared all the documents which were marked on my blue sheet. Should I bring it now or wait until my number shows on the web site?
A: Wait until you have seen your number and bring all the documents at the same time. If you are not sure if you have all the correct documents, you can submit them earlier.
